National Conference 2016

Thank you to everyone who attended our conference on Wednesday 2nd March 2016 in the new Technology & Innovation Centre University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and to all our speakers, presenters and staff for making it such a great day.

We had a fantastic array of presenters and workshops who gave an inspiring insight into intergenerational work taking place across Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Spain. Representation from the Scottish Government gave a national picture on where intergenerational work sits within priorities. Key note speakers included Mariano Sanchez, University of Granada, Fiona Mcleod MSP, Sandra White MSP and Ricky Bush, Linkage Bristol.

There were eight workshops for delegates to choose from detailed below. Workshops showcased successful intergenerational projects, gave information & advice for using an intergenerational approach and helped ignite ideas for further projects across the country.

4. Encouraging and developing intergenerational projects within protected characteristics groups

7. Intergenerational experiences through befriending

8. Age Awareness

During registration and lunchtime delegates had the opportunity to wander round our information village. A big thank you to the following organisations who took part:

YouthLink Scotland, Young Start Fund, Big Lottery, Befriending Networks, Dementia Friendly East Lothian, Action on Hearing Loss and Outside the Box.

The day closed with our Recognition Awards, celebrating the outstanding talent, commitment and inspirational involvement of workers, volunteers and groups who promote intergenerational activities.
