Local Networks: Protected Characteristics Network
Protected Characteristics Network
Generations Working Together (GWT) held a meeting September 2015 inviting representatives from protected characteristics groups and organisations including disability & ethnicity to come together and discuss how GWT can best support their organisation to use intergenerational approaches in their work.
GWT is funded through the Scottish Government’s Equality Fund and aims to support member organisations, including those working with protected characteristics, develop projects that use intergenerational approaches to challenge ageism.
The meeting was a starter conversation helping GWT map existing work and devise the best route forward in supporting groups and organisations across Scotland to recognise the benefits of intergenerational work and how best to plan and carry out projects.
After discussion it was agreed that GWT would create a new thematic network which would start in 2016 meeting three times a year.
