Barrowland Ballet

Are you aged between 7-90 years old? Do you love to dance?

Would you like to dance, meet new people and get the opportunity to perform?

Following the success of our intergenerational participatory projects including Bunty & Doris and more recently The River, we’ve decided to start our very own FREE intergenerational company in Glasgow led by acclaimed choreographer Natasha Gilmore.

Launching in September 2016, Barrowland Ballet will initially run several taster sessions for anyone interested in joining the company. The Intergenerational Company will then meet for weekly sessions from 6-7.30pm on Tuesdays evenings in Glasgow City Centre. The group will create and perform theatrical dance pieces using improvisation and games to make the choreography. You do not need any formal dance experience but a passion about being creative through dance and an enthusiasm for being in the intergenerational company. This will be a pilot company running initially for one year with the first term running from September- December 2016.

Get involved:

If you’re interested in joining please send your details including your name, D.O.B and contact details along with a short paragraph about why you wish to join the company to Nicola by 12th August 2016. We welcome participants aged 10-90 years and children aged 7-9 when dancing with a parent. We will be looking to maintain a balance of ages across the intergenerational company so may not be able to accommodate all who apply. Names will be picked at random within age categories to ensure all age groups are represented within the company. We will notify all who have applied by Monday 22nd August. Please note workshops will be high energy and include floor work.
