Action on Elder Abuse (AEA) Scotland will be holding our first national conference on 13th June. Financial harm has been described as the ‘crime of the 21st century’ – estimated to affect around 57,000 older people in the UK each year.

Our conference will focus on how we can work together to protect older people from financial harm and exploitation, including:
• doorstep crime and other scams specifically directed towards older people
• family members putting pressure on older people to make financial decisions they wouldn’t otherwise make
• misuse of power of attorney, guardianship and other financial powers
• theft and fraud
The conference will include a range of presentations, workshops and information stalls. Delegates can also access our free information booklets, which include advice for older people on how to protect themselves from financial harm (and other forms of abuse), and how to access support, advice and protection. learning about key national and local developments to tackle financial harm across Scotland.

The conference will provide an excellent opportunity to:
• learn about key financial harm issues affecting older people, and what you can do to help keep them safe
• find out about national and local developments in Scotland to tackle financial harm and exploitation
• network with others to share experiences and ideas for tackling financial harm
