GWT recruiting new Steering Group Members

We are currently looking to add two or three members to our Steering Group. Its role is to provide expert advice, guidance and direction to the GWT programme and to ensure it is delivered in accordance with its agreed aims and outcomes. Members are expected to be advocates for intergenerational practice and to agree the strategic plan and monitor its strategic impact. The Steering Group is an advisory body and does not have any legal authority as this rests with the Board of Trustees of Scottish Mentoring Network. This is a voluntary position but expenses are reimbursed.

If you are interested in intergenerational work; able to attend 4 or 5 meetings a year (which normally alternate between Glasgow and Edinburgh); are engaged at a senior level in the public, private or third sectors and, able to help take forward GWT’s strategic aims then please contact Iain Forbes or call him at 0141 559 5030 for more information or to arrange a meeting.

Generations Working Together (GWT) is funded by the Scottish Government and managed by Scottish Mentoring Network. Its main role is to reduce stereotyping of younger and older people, connect people of all ages through purposeful activity for the benefit of all generations and help reduce social isolation. GWT has over 1500 members and has established 29 regional networks covering all of Scotland.

We offer advice, guidance and support as well as specific training on how intergenerational and age friendly projects can help Scottish Government and Local Authorities achieve some of their planned outcomes. GWT works in partnership with a number of national organisations and public agencies and supports member projects in a wide range of activities designed to engender greater understanding of and across all generations. We believe that using the strengths and assets of all generations will help community cohesion whilst at the same time giving much needed physical and mental support to the more vulnerable.
