Liveable Lives and Kinder Communities

How do we help each other to manage the daily challenges of everyday life? What makes it easier – for some people, in some circumstances – to act in kindness and become involved in relationships of help and support with those around them, such as friends, neighbours, acquaintances or even strangers?

The Liveable Lives and Kinder Communities events are being run by Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) and Carnegie UK Trust to give the communities that the research focuses on the opportunity to come together and give their feedback.

It’s not often that research is discussed in and with the communities in which it is carried out. The Liveable Lives and Kinder Communities events are being run by Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) and Carnegie UK Trust to give the communities that the research focuses on the opportunity to come together and give their feedback.

The Liveable Lives study looked at ‘everyday kindness’ in the specific context of three areas in and around Glasgow – Bearsden, Maryhill and Hillhead. Here is a link to an article written by JRF CEO Julia Unwin on the importance of social capital in our communities in which she refers directly to the Liveable Lives research.
