Parliament debate looks beyond the 2020 vision

During last week’s parliamentary debate on the future vision for health and social care in Scotland, Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Sport, Shona Robison MSP, said that “we need to look differently at how we deliver care”, noting the focus on prevention and self management in the current 2020 Vision provided an opportunity for progress.

However, she highlighted that “we need to be clearer on how we deliver the step changes required and raise our eyes beyond that horizon and see what success would look like over a 10 to 15 year timeframe.”

To support this, the Cabinet Secretary announced the Government’s intention to develop a longer term 10 to 15 year strategy that builds on, but goes beyond, the 2020 vision for health and social care in Scotland. The Government will work with a range of stakeholders and aims to reach a broad agreement on this plan by Autumn 2015.
