Active and Healthy Ageing: An Action Plan for Scotland
NHS Health Scotland, the Joint Improvement Team and the Scottish Government and other partners have developed this Action Plan as a key part of their 2014 Commonwealth Games legacy. Implementing the actions will help Scotland create a society in which we can all age healthily.
It builds on activity undertaken in 2012 to celebrate the European Year of Active Ageing. The Plan is based around four themes that older people indicated were important to them:
- “I want to have fun and enjoy myself”
- “I wish to remain connected to my community and friends”
- “I wish to be able to contribute to society for as long as I want”
- “Don’t talk about me without me, and respect my values and beliefs”.
