Walk in our Shoes, Act on our Issues

“Broken pavements, public toilet closures, poor street lighting, unsafe road crossings, inaccessible shops: all things that discourage older people from getting out and about and increase isolation in too many of our communities.

Walk in our Shoes, Act on our Issues is a resource pack which will help you to identify barriers to older people’s inclusion in your neighbourhood, and to get support from local decision makers for removing these barriers.

The materials included help you to create a simple map of your local community, highlighting potential issues for older people with icon stickers, along with ideas and templates for how to use your map to gather local support from the public and decision makers to affect change.

The pack is suitable for intergenerational projects but can also be used by and with older people’s groups. To request a copy, simply email the Age Scotland Campaigns Team or call 0845 833 0200.
