National Conference 2019

Wednesday 6th March 2019, 9:30am - 4:00pm at The Technology and Innovation Centre, University of Strathclyde, 99 George Street, Glasgow, G1 1RD (£65 member / £80 non-member)

Generations Working Together is excited to launch the National Conference Programme planned for Wednesday 6th March 2019. The conference will be open to anyone who is interested in creating intergenerational communities, by means of connecting and building relationships between different generations with a specific focus on older and younger people.

Delegates will have an opportunity to meet practitioners, project participants and volunteers from a wide variety of backgrounds (public/voluntary/private) from all across Scotland. Our goal for the day is to motivate and inspire you to leave the conference and create new projects and connections in your local community. You will have the chance to network, to share experiences, learn from each other and learn together from our speakers, facilitators and information village.

The opening address will be conveyed by the Minister for Equalities and Older People, Christina McKelvie MSP with a follow on presentation from Lesley Munro, Lead Education Officer, who will provide details on the new Jedburgh Intergenerational Community Campus being built in the Scottish Borders. Jacqui Burke from the Fashion School in Dunbar and Jackie Kay our Scottish Makar will also be involved later in the day bringing something a little bit different to the days proceedings.

After the morning speeches, delegates will be able to participate in two breakout sessions, choosing from:

  1. Intergenerational mentoring – could mentoring work for you?
  2. Intergenerational sustainable cafe – lost arts of early childhood
  3. Languages, art and impact
  4. On the money
  5. Creating relationships through physical activity
  6. Introduction to measuring your impact
  7. Improving achievement and attainment in education
  8. The Cares Family – finding connections in a disconnected world

Please read the synopsis of the breakout sessions for further details before booking below.
