Generations Working Together is excited to launch the programme for our National Conference on Wednesday 4th March 2020. The conference will be open to anyone who is interested in creating intergenerational communities, by means of connecting and building relationships between different generations with a specific focus on older and younger people.

Delegates will have an opportunity to meet fellow managers and practitioners, project participants, volunteers, government officials, academics and researchers from a wide variety of backgrounds (public/voluntary/private) from across Scotland and wider afield. Our goal for the day is to motivate and inspire you to leave the conference and go forth to create new projects and connections in your local communities. You will have the chance to network, to share experiences, learn from each other and learn from our team of speakers, facilitators and exhibitors.

This year we are delighted to announce that our opening address will be given by the Minister for Equalities and Older People, Christina McKelvie MSP. The Minister has been a great supporter of Intergenerational work across Scotland and of GWT and we are delighted that she is able to attend. The programme has had a bit of a shake up keeping the morning selection of workshops and award presentations however for a change we have a new addition of talking lunch tables we invite you to choose a conversation which you will take part in whilst enjoying your lunch.

A group of younger and older people and teachers will be sharing their intergenerational experiences with you in the form of an informal conversation and in the afternoon we shall be joined by Lukas Hecke from Austria who has agreed to share his experiences of how they successfully match younger and older people to share a home together.

The following topics will be covered during the morning workshops:

  1. Intergenerational Spaces and Places
  2. Embedding intergenerational work within and beyond the NHS
  3. Measuring impact
  4. Intergenerational Volunteering
  5. What do we need to make intergenerational work successful?

Please read the synopsis of the breakout sessions for further details before booking below.
