Come and join us in this session to hear more about our Community Knowledge Fund participatory research exploring Community Safety through an Intergenerational Lens - breaking down barriers through intergenerational dialogue to create resilient safer communities that are safe to grow up and grow old in. Funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the research worked with four grassroots community groups in Glasgow. The research aimed to explore how intergenerational connections can play a significant role in community safety, looking at how forming relationships between younger and older people in four community settings can make a meaningful difference. By using an intergenerational lens and a participatory approach, each project worked with their community to look at relationships and engage in dialogue to create a workable piece of research that asks questions relevant to them, while raising awareness about crime, exploring anti-social behaviour, and considering community safety across generations.
Working with Garnethill multicultural centre, Yoker resource centre’s group, Time well spent, Knightswood active seniors, The Prince’s Trust at Clyde College, Govan Craft Cafe the groups, through various mediums, explored community safety and intergenerational relationships in their own neighbourhoods across Glasgow.
