The GWT Excellence Awards 2026 celebrate the people, partnerships, organisations and communities redefining how generations connect, collaborate, and thrive together.

Presented this year as part of the Global Intergenerational Congress, these awards honour those leading the way in creating stronger, more inclusive communities—where every generation is valued, heard, and empowered.

Across the world, intergenerational initiatives are transforming lives. They are breaking down barriers, building understanding, and unlocking the potential that emerges when different generations come together with purpose. The Excellence Awards shine a light on this work—celebrating quality, innovation and impact and recognising the individuals and teams who are making it happen every day.

The Excellence Awards are more than a celebration—they are a call to action. They invite us all to recognise the value of intergenerational approaches and to champion their role in shaping a better future for all.

Winners will be revealed during a special awards celebration (Hootenanny) on the evening of Day 3 of the Global Intergenerational Congress, bringing together delegates from around the world for an unforgettable evening of recognition, storytelling, and celebration.

During the session Lorraine George, our Intergenerational Learning & Development Lead, will introduce the categories, explain the assessment criteria and offer tips for the application process, giving everyone a clear idea of what they need to consider and how to apply. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
