East Lothian & Midlothian
Welcome to the East Lothian & Midlothian Network
GWT networks have been busy sharing news of intergenerational projects, useful and interesting resources and support for each other, as we all continue to navigate living through the pandemic – and looking forward to better times again. The website has been refreshed (so please enjoy a wander through the different pages) and the ‘small but perfectly formed’ GWT team have been hard at work behind the scenes too creating a programme of Thematic Network Meetings. The calendar for the year ahead will soon be updated, but have a look to see what is still “coming up” before summer break. There’s a constant feeling of optimism through the amazing people in Scotland who live and breathe intergenerational and connected ways of working and living. The link for the calendar can be found here then head to the events page to book your place at one of our themed network meetings.
If you are working on something that is, or feels like it could become, truly intergenerational – please do get in touch and share it. The more we raise awareness and understanding of intergenerational work, the more we inspire – you are always welcome to email Loreen to share your thoughts and experiences or knowledge of something that is happening. Stay in touch and stay involved!
Recognising and growing the strong tradition of wonderful intergenerational work in East and Midlothian – with Dunbar Grammar School, Newbyres Nursery, First Step Community Project, Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School, Dunbar Grammar School, Volunteer Centre Midlothian, Art Point Scotland, to name but a few, is a real pleasure! (Our banner picture notes award presented to Dunbar Fashion School for winning one of Generations Working Together’s Awards for their contribution to reducing loneliness and isolation (2019). The award was presented at the national Conference by the Minister for Older People and Equalities, Christina McKelvie MSP. In 2021 DGS also received a Highly Commended Award in the Innovation in the Community – huge congratulations to all involved!
