East Lothian & Midlothian
Welcome to the East Lothian & Midlothian Network
Wintery News isn’t dull or deich in GWT land. As we start 2021 the GWT networks are busy sharing news of intergenerational projects, upcoming AGM, recruiting volunteer local co-ordinators and representatives, preparing for National Intergenerational Week (which we would love you to get involved with) and the GWT Annual Intergenerational Conference – and so much more including website updates (so please enjoy a wander through the different pages). There’s a constant feeling of optimism and a true faith in the amazing people in Scotland who live and breathe intergenerational and connected ways of working and living.
“Don’t hide your light under a bushell” is Loreen’s message. If you are working on something that feels like it could become truly intergenerational – get in touch. If you have already adapted an existing project or groups to maintain relationships over the past year – share it. Perhaps you could submit a nomination for an Excellence Award – there’s nothing GWT loves more than hearing and sharing wonderful work and ideas. The more we raise awareness and understanding of intergenerational work, the more we inspire – so send in submissions – email loreen@generationsworkingtogether.org to share your thoughts and experiences or knowledge of something that is happening. Stay in touch and stay involved!
There’s a strong tradition of wonderful intergenerational work in East and Midlothian – Newbyres Nursery, Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School, Dunbar Grammar School, Art Point Scotland and many more – our banner picture notes award presented to Dunbar Fashion School for winning one of Generations Working Together’s Awards for their contribution to reducing loneliness and isolation. The award was presented at the national Conference by the Minister for Older People and Equalities, Christina McKelvie MSP.
