Glasgow & East Dunbartonshire

Welcome to the Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire Network
Network meetings are hosted across various locations in Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire, as the area is widespread geographically, the location varies each time to reach communities. We welcome the inexperienced and new to intergenerational practice and those who are more experienced too. Our network meetings are a time to connect, share and inspire and be inspired by other likeminded people in your local community.
Visit to Yoker Community Campus
I had a wonderful morning visiting the Intergenerational Project at Yoker Community Campus, where older adults from Time Well Spent (Yokers Elderly Social Inclusion Group) came together with young people from The King’s Trust (Anniesland College).
The session was led by Lucy and Keira, who planned a range of fun and engaging activities. Conversations flowed easily during the Impossible Quiz, with The Sweeties taking the winning spot! The young people then had the chance to ask the older adults thoughtful questions about their lives, sparking lively discussions on everything from ballet dancing in their youth to favourite holiday destinations.
For the final activity, everyone worked together to create a canvas featuring an inspirational quote, decorating it collaboratively to produce a unique masterpiece.
Many thanks to Project Coordinator Kirsty Gibbons for inviting me along to share such an inspiring intergenerational session. I look forward to returning soon and joining in even more fun.

October 2025 Meeting
Thanks to all those who came along to our recent Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire Network meeting on Thursday 23rd October in Maryhill. We had the pleasure of presenting one of GWT’s Excellence Awards for the category Encouraging Reciprocal Learning to Gilded Lily for their Generation Women 4 Women project. Thanks to Heather Dundas for coming along to receive the award and for sharing your experience of the project and the positive impact it has had for the participants. We welcomed new members to the network, keen to find out more about intergenerational practice, and benefited from hearing from members sharing their experiences of current and previous intergenerational projects. Plenty of connections were made within the meeting and current successful projects and challenges were shared with the network.
We are looking to recruit a volunteer intergenerational community connector for GWT in the Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire network. If you would like to get more involved in intergenerational working, learn more about the practice and help grow intergenerational relationships in your local area this is the role for you. We are keen to deliver training in the area too, if this is of an interest contact Corrina for further information.
