Shetland Isles

Welcome to the Shetland Isles Network
Our next catch up of the network will take place on Thursday 30th April 2026 from 9.30am – 11.30am in the Islesburgh Community Centre, King Harald St, Lerwick, Shetland, ZE1 0EQ.
Please note we are also offering hybrid for those further afield and unable to attend in person but could attend online.
Our meeting falls on Day 7 of Global Intergenerational Week which looks to improve intergenerational quality and sustainability. With the campaign’s themes in mind, our session will shine a spotlight on intergenerational approaches for climate action, and on how to improve our intergenerational practice and sustainability for projects.
Back in November 2025 Alison and Denise caught up with some of our Shetland Intergenerational Network members however, due to heavy fog, Alison couldn’t make it in person—hence her slightly ghostly appearance in the photo above! You can download the notes from that meeting, along with notes from our winter online network meeting in January 2026, which had an amazing 69 people registered.
We’re also delighted to share that GWT is looking to recruit another volunteer intergenerational community connector for Shetland to help us continue to grow the network. If you’re passionate about intergenerational work, keen to learn more, and excited about strengthening relationships across ages in your community, we’d love to hear from you.
To find out more, please contact Alison.
