A Christmas TV Broadcast for Care Homes

Pupils & staff from Bertha Park High School in Perth want to help reduce loneliness & isolation this winter. To do this we have worked with the national centre for intergenerational practice, Generations Working Together, to produce a festive TV show aimed specifically at older people; it consists of:

  • Musical performances
  • Poetry & stories
  • Personal greetings from pupils & staff
  • Christmas-cracker jokes

This will be available to view on our YouTube channel from 21 December 2020 and we would like to invite you to share it with your residents and colleagues. The programme can be viewed on a Smart TV or on a computer, or even a computer connected to a TV. There are lots of websites that show you how this can be done, try this one to get you started; it explains how to watch YouTube on lots of devices.

In February 2021 we will be launching an intergenerational radio station. Part of our programming will be providing content specifically for older people in the community. In January, look out for a further communication from us, as we’ll be asking you for music requests, mentions and shout-outs for your residents and staff.

In the meantime, we will be back in touch on or before 21 December with the YouTube link that will allow you to watch our TV programme. We hope everyone enjoys it as much as we have enjoyed putting it together.

Best wishes from everyone at Bertha Park High School.
