Congratulations to Community Chorus Online, Excellence Award winners

Generations Working Together recently presented an Excellence Award to Community Chorus Online, this year’s winners in the category, “Creative Use of Technologies”. This award recognises projects that have embraced diverse technologies and used them creatively to connect all ages together in mutually beneficial activities and intergenerational relationships.

A partnership between Raploch Community Partnership and the Big Noise Raploch, the intergenerational Community Chorus has been running since 2018. When the country was locked down during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, their team came up with an innovative way to keep the music playing. They moved the chorus online via Zoom, enabling people of all ages to continue their weekly singing sessions and stay connected. As the project continued, they were able to involve residents from the nearby Forthbank Care Home as well as local Primary School children, who sang – and danced – along with the music!

When Generations Working Together presented the award on 31st March 2022 we were able to enjoy – and take part in – an in-person session, which have been running since January 2022. However, today for the first time the group welcomed back some of the Primary pupils, staff from Forthbank Care Home, and a few older members of the local community. It was fantastic to see everyone singing together once again. Technology still played an important role, with a live stream ensuring the residents at Forthbank Care Home didn’t miss out on the fun.

Congratulations again to all staff and volunteers involved in this wonderful project. You can find out more by watching their winning film below:
