Dementia: Making a difference in your community

A national day of learning online

Monday 13th September, 9.30 – 4pm

(Participants can attend for the whole day or for part of the day)

Age Scotland’s dementia training team is hosting a day of learning, exploring what we can all do to create, empower and effect change with and for people living with dementia.

Building communities in which people living with dementia and their carers are happy, active and included is a goal shared by many organisations in Scotland today. Making this goal a reality requires a huge variety of different approaches and there is a wealth of innovative learning and creative initiatives taking place. As we begin to rebuild connections and remove barriers for people living with dementia after the pandemic, the Age Scotland dementia training team will bring together people and organisations focused on this aim from across the country in our first national day of learning and sharing.

We will shine a light on four exciting areas of development in this journey towards creating the inclusive communities we all want to see:

  • Topic 1: Enabling outdoor activities and spaces
  • Topic 2: Empowering carers
  • Topic 3: Taking the lead from people living with dementia
  • Topic 4: Intergenerational approaches to dementia inclusion

We are inviting members of the GWT network with experience of working with people living with dementia to host (or co-host) an informal workshop at the event as part of Topic 4. This would be an opportunity to showcase your work and discuss some of the benefits and challenges with participants. The Topic 4 workshops will take place from 3 – 3.50pm.

Please email Sandra Brown if you would like to host a workshop or have any questions about this.

To take part as a participant, please book your free place here.

With a packed programme of speakers and interactive workshops exploring different contributions and approaches to these topics, this free, online event will provide a valuable forum for learning and exchange for anyone seeking to play a part in building the dementia inclusive Scotland we all want to see. Hopefully see you there!
