Healthy Ageing in a Changing Climate

Many of us are already experiencing the effects of climate change including an increase in extreme weather events such as heatwaves, floods and storms. Such events affect our health and wellbeing, and the homes and communities where we live. Yet older people’s voices are rarely sought when it comes to identifying priorities and solutions to support healthy ageing in response to climate change and extreme weather events.

In this study, we want to hear about what climate change means to you and the impact of extreme weather on you and your local community. Healthy Ageing in a Changing Climate is a year-long project that explores how to create cities and communities that are inclusive, climate resilient and age-friendly. The project is being led by The Urban Institute (Heriot-Watt University) and the Stockholm Environment Institute (University of York).
