Intergenerational Sporting activities

You are invited to come along and join us on Wednesday 15th September 2021, 10:00am – 11:30am for a conversation about how sporting activities build a natural bond across generations bring all ages together in sporting events (such as watching sport together) or sporting activities. The list of activities is endless and we want to explore and encourage the sharing of stories and people’s experiences of intergenerational happenings around sport. We will look at participation in sporting activities for both old and young people. How volunteering, coaching or spectating in sport might contribute to promote more intergenerational connections.

Intergenerational sport is a vital instrument to foster not only active ageing but also social inclusion and community cohesion.

We have guest speakers:

Nic Wilson, Head of Development, Cricket Scotland will talk about cricket across generations, walking cricket, volunteering roles, and their work in Scotland.
Maurice Donohue, Sporting Memories Network will talk about sporting memories and intergenerational relationships.
Stephen Halkett from Vale of Leven Academy to talk about intergenerational connections through sport.
