New Chair in Intergenerational Studies

Dr. Mariano Sánchez to Head the new Chair in Intergenerational Studies!

The University of Granada (UGR) and the corporation Macrosad, both based in Southern Spain, have just announced the establishment of a new Chair in Intergenerational Studies, the first of its kind in the country.

Macrosad is a social cooperative working in the sector of socieducational and caregiving services for toddlers and frail older persons. Last year, this corporation decided to adopt an intergenerational perspective as part of its vision and mission. Hence, its determination to found the new Chair in collaboration with UGR.

Dr. Mariano Sanchez, associate professor of Sociology at UGR, has been appointed Head of this Chair. His immediate efforts will be focusing on the launching of an intergenerational shared-site in the area (an Early Childhood 0-3 School combined with a Day Care Center for older adults), which intends to become a model space and program for other intergenerational centers in the country.
