Social Connections

Creative intergenerational co-design workshop

“Social Connections” is a 15 week creative design project undertaken by 3rd year Interior Architecture & Design students at Heriot-Watt University investigating hypothetical design solutions for a mixed use residential scheme utilising the Shrubhill Tramworks site in Leith. Students have prepared models of the existing building and are seeking volunteers to attend a participatory co-design workshop. This is an inclusive people centred workshop aiming to investigate purposeful environments for all. Particularly those supporting meaningful social interaction.

This is intended to be a socially innovative project which will engage with the local community of Leith, and wider specialists with an interest in age friendly neighbourhoods, ageing well, intergenerational projects, Leith and creative design methods. We actively encourage volunteers from diverse backgrounds & age groups to participate in this workshop. No previous experience of model making or sketching is required, these activities will be supported through our experienced student group.
