Something to celebrate across generations

Despite the challenges that 2021 has continued to present, Food for Life Get Togethers had 735 new organisations get involved, and 547 new GT activities registered – all since June this year. We hope your communities are able to come together with festive cheer this year, but understandably, Covid restrictions could mean plans need to change.

We have an inspiring story from Worth Unlimited in Huddersfield sharing how they made changes to their original plans when Covid cases rose in their area. Wendy, youth and community worker at Worth Unlimited said:
“We had three new families take part and they said how they were relieved not to have to worry about how they were going to feed the whole family this week. The meals provided an excellent chance for people to catch up with their neighbours (socially distanced of course!) outside the building while waiting for their turn to collect the takeaways.”

Remember, head to Food for Life Facebook group for more advice, inspiration and a place to share photos and stories. The more festive, the better.

Festive community spirit This week, The Long Table based in Stroud, are inviting workplaces, churches, streets, clubs, neighbours and friends to unite around warming bowls of nourishing food. Everyone is invited to take part. Their mission is to bring people in the community together to share a meal this Christmas. They champion a Pay As You Feel model, and any money raised goes directly to the Refugee Community Kitchen.

2022 Calendar of Events Coming soon

As some of you already know, we are working with our local commissioned partners to set up networking events for next year. Our networking events are a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded organisers, share success and support one another where things haven’t gone to plan.

One previous attendee said: “Hearing what other people said makes it easier to try things for yourself!”

Another commented: “I got both practical ideas, inspiration and motivation from the event”
