The Floating Unexpected Garden Tour

Its a good way to connect with people from your community across generations and find out more about this garden tour.

It’s made up of three elements:

One a barge from Scottish Canals converted in to a floating allotment, complete with a polytunnel, shed raised beds and a cube of perpetual light.
Two a performance stage home to a huge flower puppet.
Three an eco garden drawing sustenance from the canal and in the process cleaning the water and feeding the plants.

During the tour the floating gardens will be joined by other vessels from the boating community decorated to create a flotilla of floating gardens that will stop at ten communities. At each the flower puppet will come alive holding a performance of harvest songs with locals receiving hundreds of grow-your-own starter kits for anything from potatoes to lemon balm. The Floating Garden will pass through Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch, Auchinstarry, Linlithgow, Broxburn, Ratho and Edinburgh before docking at the Helix, Falkirk. Once at The Kelpies, there will be a series of events through the summer culminating in a joyful Harvest in early September.
