Creating Intergenerational Communities (CIC) Quality Indicator Toolkit training (Closed Session)

Evidence from the Creating Intergenerational Communities (CIC) Pilot demonstrates that in order to build good practice, the way in which intergenerational work is planned and implemented should meet certain standards of quality, keeping in mind basic core intergenerational principles and standards. If you follow the new principles and standards set out in the CIC programme and toolkit, the chances are your intergenerational project will have greater impact, improved outcomes and increased reach.

The CIC pilot highlighted that the quality indicator toolkit and self-assessment process was instrumental in improving intergenerational practice for all practitioners, even those that have been delivering intergenerational work for years. For the settings that used the toolkit, every £1 invested, generated £6.97 of social value such as increased skills and knowledge, increased physical and mental health, increased wellbeing and improvements in school and in cognitive skills for young and older people.

You need more than good intentions to develop and deliver sustainable quality intergenerational programmes. 

The CIC quality indicator toolkit and programme has been designed to meet the practitioner at their own level, regardless of their intergenerational knowledge and experience. 

This session will help practitioners to:

• Understand the indicators of intergenerational good practice and how to use the toolkit
• Assess their own starting point with regard to good practice and how to improve quality
• Identify the strengths in their own practice and areas for improvement
