About
Generations Working Together is the nationally recognised centre of excellence supporting the development and integration of intergenerational work across Scotland.
GWT’s vision is to live in a Scotland where different generations are more connected and everyone has the opportunity to build relationships that help to create a fairer society.
GWT‘s mission is to develop, expand and improve intergenerational practice across Scotland.
Our values are:

GWT's Corporate Plan 2020-25 outlines 5 strategic aims:
- To enable Scotland to become an intergenerational nation.
- To influence national and local policy in favour of intergenerational practice.
- To promote, support and increase innovation in intergenerational practice in Scotland.
- To increase participation in intergenerational practice.
- To ensure sound governance.
In 2025 we launched our call for Scotland to become the world's first truly intergenerational nation, coinciding with this year's Scottish Government Election. The manifesto identifies three priority areas and twelve specific calls for action that we believe the Scottish Government elected for 2026 – 2031, and all elected representatives should focus on to help ensure that relationships between generations are strengthened and Scotland becomes more connected and inclusive.
