Directors Statement

I grew up in my grandmother’s kitchen. She was my role model and inspiration. At the age of 103 my grandmother was still going to the gym and living a very full and meaningful life. As I was approaching my 50th year and starting to reflect on my own life, I began a quest to search for other people, who like my grandmother were living life to the limits. This journey led to the creation of the Lives Well Lived film.

Having my grandmother as a cornerstone of my upbringing was a fortune I cherished, yet I recognize that not all young people have the chance to forge meaningful bonds with an older adult. Motivated by this gap, I initiated the Lives Well Lived: Generations Project. Honored with the Generations United Program of Distinction award, this project pairs students with older adults for a series of insightful interviews. These conversations, sparked by themes from the Lives Well Lived film, aim to bridge generational divides by fostering a mutual understanding and appreciation of diverse life journey. Further details about the Lives Well Lived: Generations Project can be discovered here.
