Network meetings are hosted across various locations in the Highlands as the area is widespread geographically, the location varies each time to reach communities. Our networks are a time to connect, share and inspire and be inspired by other likeminded people in your local community.

March 2026 Meetings

Thanks to all those who came along to the intergenerational network meeting in Nairn on Tuesday 24th March and Fort William on Wednesday 25th March. It was great to connect with you all and hear about your current and future intergenerational projects. Both meetings highlighted the wealth of intergenerational initiatives taking place across the Highlands from intergenerational choirs, to youth groups and older adults in the community, to early years and care homes, and all agreed on the impact this is having on older and younger participants and the wider communities. There was productive dialogue over raising the profile of volunteering and projects as a whole and some great plans put in place too.

GWT also delivered our one-day training in Dingwall. It proved to be a productive day planning intergenerational projects over a wide range of fields, sharing good practice and discussing challenges too. It was great to see some training participants at the networks and hear how their intergenerational initiatives are progressing. Many thanks to Jenny Willens from Ewen’s Room who has since then shared that their intergenerational project has featured in the Lochaber Times, it certainly sounds like a success!

We are delighted to introduce you to our new volunteer intergenerational community connector for the Highlands network, Lesley Fraser a Volunteering Officer from Green Hive in Nairn.
