Contact the Elderly Youth Ambassador

As a Contact the Elderly Youth Ambassador you will be helping us end loneliness among older people. This is part of the youth programme Contact the Elderly Scotland are developing as part of ‘Year of Young People’. You will be a role model within your community. The intergenerational aspect of our work is extremely important and in the Year of Young People 2018, we aim to build a network of Youth Ambassadors across Scotland who are inspired by our vision and are enthusiastic about ensuring that isolated older people are offered a lifeline of friendship.

What an ambassador could do

  1. Spread the word among your friends, family and community.
  2. Talk to your class or at the school assembly
  3. Fundraise
  4. Attend a tea party and blog or vlog about it
  5. Help at Contact the Elderly events
  6. Organise your own event
  7. Distribute ‘Be Our Guest’ material in the community
  8. Log your volunteering with Saltire Awards to work towards certification
  9. Writing letters to our older guests

We can provide

  2. Ambassador Certificate
  3. Promotional materials and resources
  4. Opportunities to attend events relating to ending loneliness
  5. Help putting your ideas into action
  6. Advice, support and backing
  7. Facts, figures and information
  8. Guidance with your Saltire Award
  9. Publicity for your activities/ blogs/ vlogs
