North Berwick Intergenerational Event

A big thank you to everyone who attended our intergenerational event in North Berwick on Friday 27th April 2018.

Our event started with an introduction from Tillie as to why the event was organised. Tillie then introduced the first speaker, Alison Clyde, National Development Manager from Generations Working Together to give an introduction to intergenerational work. Afterwards three local organisations (Day Centre, the Youth project and the Rotary) highlighted intergenerational work which they had been involved in sharing their experiences.

There were some really good discussions over lunch and some real ideas have been put forward – working together on developing a path network and map with rangers / U3A/ youth project/ ramblers/ uniformed organisations/ schools – an intergenerational book group – Dirleton is going to have a get together of all the community organisations in their village, plus the primary school to look at possible initiatives – FM Local radio came up with great ideas and offers of promotion of initiatives – and I think there may well be people who want to join the GWT network and/or take up training.

The group also want to meet again in a year’s time to see what has happened to date and what else they want to do.

So for the Health &Well-Being Group it was successful as our role is to bring relevant people together and encourage them to develop new initiatives.

Thanks to all who attended
