Plant and Share month

Plant and Share activities are a great way to get us all out growing our own food and sharing it with the community. There’s still time to register for free – whether your spot is a community garden, a few pots or a greenhouse. Take a look at our resources and follow our easy herb grow-guides or grow strawberries in old wellies – there’s plenty of fun ideas and practical advice on our Plant and Share toolkit

Head to our Trello board to download flyers, social media ideas and assets. Spread the word in style!

From small seeds sprout far reaching branches! Plant and Share Month doesn’t have to end in May, read more about how these community projects flourished after their Plant and Share 2021 activities.

Urban Gardeners in Leicestershire got permission from the council and created a fantastic allotment area along the road, offering free vegetables for residents and passers-by. Greave House Farm Trust are based on the outskirts of Sheffield. Their diverse community group continues to meet, to develop their gardening skills. They’ve also set up a veg trolley and hope to run cooking sessions using their home-grown produce in a custom built portacabin kitchen.

The Big Jubilee Lunch 2nd-5th June is something else that you may want to take part in. Whether it’s sharing a cuppa on the doorstep or a bigger bash for the whole street, get together with neighbours and friends for some food and fun. Each year, The Big Lunch brings millions of people together across the UK to celebrate with neighbours and communities on the first weekend in June. Falling just after Plant and Share Month, it’s a great way to enjoy what you’ve grown, tend to your patch with a cuppa and keep the community connections growing!
This year is extra special as The Big Jubilee Lunch is part of the official celebrations for HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend, and The Big Lunch will once again kick start a whole Month of Community
So, there are more reasons than ever to get together this year, and a whole summer to party!
