Volunteers Week 1- 7th June

It’s Volunteers’ Week! This is the 39th year of the UK-wide campaign that takes place from 1-7 June every year. It’s a time when groups and organisations are encouraged to thank and celebrate their volunteers, past and present. Thank you to all of the volunteers who spend their time supporting organisations or individuals. We are so thankful to our volunteer coordinators here at Generations Working Together who go an extra mile in their local communities to share intergenerational ideas and raise awareness. During Volunteers week we will celebrate volunteering and the difference that it makes. Our own volunteers are invaluable and we would like to say a HUGE BIG THANK YOU to all of them.

You can help raise awareness of Volunteers’ Week by sharing social media posts across your networks. We’d also encourage you to share your own messages, photos, videos and stories on social media during Volunteers’ Week, Don’t forget to tag:

The official campaign hashtag for all social media posts is #VolunteersWeekScot

Recruiting Volunteers for Intergenerational Work
We are always looking for new people to volunteer and have volunteer opportunities in some of our network areas. There are so many benefits in this work and it does not have to take up a lot of your time. The coordinator role is an excellent way to contribute to your local community and connect generations. It would not take up a lot of your time with just two network meetings per year and two volunteer coordinators meetings.

You will receive support and FREE one day training as well as opportunity to attend events. We also offer volunteer expenses for any travel or other expenses accrued whilst carrying out the role. Not only that, it is good for your CV, and it may be something that adds to your own continuing professional development. We currently have spaces for volunteer coordinators in many of our network areas including Highlands, Perth, Grampian, Glasgow, Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire and Arran, Argyll and Bute and Lanarkshire.

Get in touch with Bella if you are interested in finding out more.

Thanks you to all of our wonderful volunteers from everyone at Generations Working Together
