Silver Games

Dumfries Academy and Active Schools teamed up with Food Train, a Scottish charity that supports older people in their local areas, to host an intergenerational Silver Games sport day.

The students planned the Silver Games as a group with support from their team co-ordinator Will Nicholson and their Active Schools co-ordinator Senga Thomson with collaboration from Food Train. Will said, “We discussed what the elderly adults could do and what we thought would be enjoyable as well as what the students thought they could manage themselves. We discussed what each generation could do as well as the actual health benefits such as sharpening memory or coordination.”
