National Intergenerational Week
Welcome to National Intergenerational Week, an online campaign connecting those passionate about intergenerational activity and inspiration across the UK. In its second year, the campaign is all about celebrating those ideas, moments and opportunities local to us where different age groups come together and intergenerational friendships are made! It also gives us an chance to consider planning for the future and developing new themes such as developing spaces and places. Opportunities for generations to connect will become even more important as we emerge from the current pandemic, so we want to inspire people to build relationships between different generations!
In 2021 year St Monica Trust handed over the leadership of the week to Generations Working Together who collaborated with Linking Generations Northern Ireland, Bridging the Generations, Wales and The Cares Family, England.
National Intergenerational Week in 2021 took place from 8-14 March 2021.
The week celebrated all who are passionate about connecting generations. Those who have an inspiring intergenerational story and those who run amazing intergenerational projects locally. We also showcased those who have plans to build intergenerational communities across the UK.
Over 120,00 people joined us through the hashtag on #IntergenerationalWeek to say no to the age gap. Watch the video to see what we achieved during the National Intergenerational Week in 2021.
Our aim for the week is to get as many people as possible involved and talking about how they plan to connect younger and older generations to build strong connections and friendships.
